A natural musical icon, it was only a matter of time that Gwen Stefani was going to start her own clothing line. I admire her choice and her penchant for picking fabulously well coordinated pieces that really make an outfit pop. Gwen Stefani has great fashion sense. L.A.M.B. is a fashion line by American singer Gwen Stefani, the lead vocalist of the rock band No Doubt. The line manufactures apparel and fashion accessories. The line was founded in 2003 but made its runway debut the following year in 2004. The fashion line manufactures accessories like shoes, watches, bags and a fragrance called "L" as well. The name is an acronym of her debut solo album Love. Angel. Music. Baby. The line is influenced by a variety of fashions cultures, including Guatemalan, Japanese, Indian, and Jamaican styles. Stefani came from a line of seamstresses. This further inspired her to launch her own fashion line. The line achieved popularity among celebrities and is worn by stars such as Teri Hatcher, Nicole Kidman, Paris Hilton and Stefani herself. The fashion line made a runway debut in the spring collection of 2004,[1] and achieved mainstream success at New York Fashion Week in 2005 and currently makes an annual gross income of $90 million. The line, as well as the fashion shows were well received by critics and appreciated the indulgence of a celebrity into the fashion world. An additional fashion line was also launched by Stefani called Harajuku Lovers.

Widely recognized for her trend setting personal style and natural elegance, Gwen Stefani created L.A.M.B., an acronym for Love Angel Music Baby, out of her love of design and fashion. L.A.M.B. is a luxurious collection of clothing, handbags, shoes and fragrance, based on Stefani’s personal style and aesthetic. “L.A.M.B. represents all things that I love. It’s very much about my style and how I put things together. L.A.M.B. is a line that I want to wear every day,” explains Gwen. The brand is defined by Gwen’s innate sense of style which often features a playful juxtaposition between classic Hollywood movie star glamour and more modern and casual street influences. L.A.M.B. is always a mixture of vintage inspiration mashed up with modern and futuristic elements. Gwen says, “My favorite thing is mixing old with new and feminine with masculine. I like the contrast and the clash and the resulting balance you get from mixing soft and hard elements. I go back to that inspiration over and over again.”

L.A.M.B. has come a long way in eight years. What began as six months of designing apparel in Gwen’s kitchen has grown into a full collaborative effort with extensive retail sales and partnerships. Gwen says, “L.A.M.B. is something that can be lasting and something I can continue to do in the future with a family. It’s like a seed that I planted and it’s going to grow into something amazing. I’m not always going to be running around doing cartwheels on stage for the rest of my life. Designing is something that I’ve always loved and dreamed about and L.AM.B. It just keeps getting better every season.” And it has, I love everything about Gwen’s line and can’t wait for the new season of clothing to come out this year.

As some of you all know MAC Cosmetics is one of my favorite brands of make-up. I love their consistency in their eyeshadows, the range of colors that they offer, and the wearability of their make-up. Their products just simply outshine the rest!
MAC Cosmetics, Makeup Art Cosmetics, was founded in Toronto, Canada by Frank Toskan and Frank Angelo in 1984. The first U.S MAC store opened in 1991, in Greenwich Village, New York. The company’s products were initially specifically designed for professional make-up artists, but are now sold to consumers worldwide. Angelo was the original founder. Toskan was a make-up artist and photographer, and Angelo was the owner of a hair salon chain. Since they were both involved in fashion photography, they both quickly recognized the need for more durable, versatile and creative cosmetics products that could handle the demands of professional photo shoots.
Always on the cutting edge with their engagement of celebrity endorsements, awareness of social and cultural diversity, and involvement in charitable social initiatives, MAC Cosmetics has now grown to become one of the most popular and influential cosmetics companies in the world.
The new MAC owners have continued on with the MAC AIDS Fund, a program where the sale of MAC’s Viva Glam products provide help men, women and children living with HIV and AIDS. MAC donates 100% of the selling price of these Viva Glam products to the cause. As of 2008, the fund had raised over $128 million dollars. Since the campaign started the spokespeople chosen are alternative, influential and even provocative with RuPaul (a drag queen) being the first spokesperson and KD Lang, Pamela Anderson and Dita Von Tees being involved in later campaigns. Lady Gaga will be the next Viva Glam spokesperson launching in early 2011.
MAC also features additional programs for cruelty-free makeup products, child abuse and protection of the environment through recycling. MAC is definitely one of the leading cosmetics companies when it comes to social and environmental awareness. When it comes to contemporary cosmetics, MAC is very likely the most sought after cosmetics line. Within the MAC Cosmetics line are some of the most desired products on the market. MAC also provides their customers with a client-focused philosophy which contributes to growing number of clients who adore MAC products.
Color palettes have been developed by MAC Cosmetics for every possible shade, tone and type of skin. Well over 160 shades of lipstick and 150 shades of eyeshadow have been created to date with numerous finishes. In addition, MAC consistently releases fresh, new, limited edition collections. MAC’s newly developed skincare line (2007) also meets the needs of diverse skin types. MAC also focuses on offering products to cater to the innovation and creative needs of professional makeup-artists and imaginative customers. MAC Cosmetics continues to be client focused and to offer their customers more than other cosmetics companies with overall client service as well as superior products and selection. As a result, MAC’s popularity is continuing to grow, and clients are continuing to rave about their products.

A pioneer in shoe design, Christian Louboutin wanted to make women feel and look sexy in the heels they wore. He was responsible for bringing back the stiletto in the 90’s and from then on Louboutin made shoes that would make a woman’s legs appear longer. Louboutin was so passionate about fashion that he decided to drop out of school early to concentrate on design. Louboutin received inspiration for his lethal-looking stilettos from an incident that occurred in his early 20s. He had visited a museum and noticed that there was a sign forbidding women wearing sharp stilettos from entering for fear of damage to the extensive wood flooring. This image stayed in his mind, and he later used this idea in his designs. “I wanted to defy that,” Louboutin has said. “I wanted to create something that broke rules and made women feel confident and empowered.” And that he did. Louboutin has received countless fashion awards for his shoes and they’re sold all over the world. He has several boutiques from Paris, New York, London, and Hong Kong. And what makes Christian Louboutin’s shoes so special is his signature trademark, the red bottom sole. Louboutin goes on to describe in his trademark application how the red bottom came to fruition.

“In 1992 I incorporated the red sole into the design of my shoes. This happened by accident as I felt that the shoes lacked energy so I applied red nail polish to the sole of a shoe. This was such a success that it became a permanent fixture.”

Christian Louboutin appeal is not just the red bottom sole, but the sky high heels of some of his shoes. Louboutin does create shoes for the novice to wear (for people who are timid about donning super high heels), but his spiked high heeled shoes are what makes the red carpet. Hollywood has helped create the iconic red bottom shoe and turned it into a legend. They are a steeple to any respectable fashionista worth her salt in couture shoes. Since the women of Hollywood must be on their best at all times, Christian Louboutin’s shoes does what it’s intended to do, and that is to make a woman look utterly fabulous, svelte, and statuesque. His heels can be anywhere between 5 to 6 inches in length and his platforms could be up to 2 inches in height. Only the most experienced and daring of women can brave the outdoors comfortably in Louboutin shoes.

Celebrities like the Kardashian sisters, Hayden Panetierre, Beyonce, Halle Barry, Renee Zellweger, and countless others have been photographed wearing his shoes.
I adore Louboutin for his unique styling and attention to detail. He really makes a wonderful shoe. From leather, jewels, and the infamous Swarovski crystals, Louboutin makes shoes that can fit any dress, occasion, and style. I don’t believe you can call some his shoes really fashion, but works of art. I really love my red bottom shoes. You can get your own Christian Louboutins at Neiman Marcus, Saks Fifth Avenue, or Barneys!

Tornadoes Cripple North Carolina

My thoughts and prayers go out to all the families in North Carolina. In an amazing feat of nature, North Carolina was hit with 60 tornadoes. It struck many people by surprise as they were not expecting a twister to touch down. Over four hours on Saturday night, the people of North Carolina learned that a hurricane is not the only force of nature that can strike their state. Bertie County was the hardest hit, most of the homes were demolished and 11 people lost their lives. Officials said at least 21 people died across the state, more than 130 were seriously injured and more than 800 homes were destroyed or damaged. At least 45 died across the South. These types of conditions that created the deadly weather systems may normally appear once or twice a year in the tornado-prone Great Plains, but almost never in North Carolina.

Governor Beverly Perdue, like governors in three other Southern states, declared a state of emergency. Yesterday, the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) reported that it had 12 teams in North Carolina, one in Alabama, and three in Mississippi. Initial reports said 60 tornadoes were spawned by the storm system in North Carolina.

The worst of it was between roughly 2:53 p.m. Saturday, when the first fatal twister touched down on the edge of Moore County in the central part of the state, and 6:55 p.m., when a tornado hit Bertie. The storm continued losing and gaining strength as it cut a path to the northeast, entering Raleigh 10 minutes before 4 p.m. Again, luck or planning kept people safe. The twister whipped through crowded neighborhoods, felling trees, smashing crypts in a cemetery, and causing so much damage to Shaw University that the school canceled the remaining two weeks of its spring semester. When the storm hit a trailer park about five miles north of downtown, it killed several people. Cousins Daniel Nino, 9, and Osvaldo Coronado, 8, died along with Osvaldo’s 3-year-old brother, Kevin, when a tree fell on a mobile home where they were huddled together.

If you wish to help The American Red Cross will conduct a special one-day telephone fundraiser on Tuesday April 19, 2011. It is called “NC Tornadoes: Heart of Carolina Cares.” People can donate at any time by calling 1-800-RED CROSS (733-2767) or texting REDCROSS to 90999 to make a $10 donation. I understand that it’s a lot going on in the world. From Japan to a tornado in North Carolina, the pressures of the world are great. But it’s times like these that people show their true courage and persevere. My thoughts and my prayers are with the people of North Carolina and as long as they do not give up hope they will surely make it through this.

I would like to take some time to acknowledge the recent devastation that has struck Japan. As people, we all have a responsibility for the human condition, and the people of Japan need to know that the world is behind them. The March 11th 9.0 magnitude earthquake and tsunami and the April 7th 7.4 magnitude earthquake has left Japan crippled, but even more recently the escalation of Japan’s Fukushima nuclear disaster to that of Chernobyl shows just how much Japan still needs help. The March 11th earthquake and tsunami have resulted in nearly 13,000 deaths and left nearly 15,000 people missing. The natural disasters also damaged or destroyed more than 217,000 buildings and 2,100 roads. The Government of Japan and the National Police Agency reported two deaths and 132 people injured as a result of the April 7th aftershock, which was the largest to occur since the March 11th earthquake. I have seen the pictures and the news reports of the horrible tragedy that Japan is in. Thousands of lives of have been lost, millions are homeless, and even worse those who have survived, face the danger of radiation exposure. I urge anyone and everyone to donate what they can to ease their plight. It is up to us to come to Japan’s aid. As a recording artist, I feel that it is my duty to donate to those that are less fortunate than I am. I have been extremely blessed to have accomplished so much and feel that it is necessary to give. This is why I am urging all my fans around the world to step up and help. Don’t just speak about it, be about it. If you want to give and don’t know where to start, I have compiled a list of organizations that are working with the Japanese government in the aid of its people.

Here’s What You Can Do:
1. American Red Cross
2. Salvation Army
3. Doctors Without Borders
4. Catholic Relief Services
5. International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies
6. World Vision
7. UNICEF
8. Samaritan’s Purse

November 10th, 2010

Hey everyone!

So, while surfing the internet the other day I came across the new MJ. I’ve always loved MJ growing up, I used to dance and boogey to all of his jams. I think my favorite song is “Dirty Diana” or “Billy Jean.” My mom used to play him in the car all the time. Anyway, I found this new link http://www.popeater.com/2010/11/09/michael-jackson-breaking-news/ of his latest song and people are asking how much of it is really him!

I think the production sounds heavily like Michael, but his voice seems a bit over produced.  I listened to it a few times. Have a listen, tell me what you think and may the King rest in peace!

Xoxo

September 10th, 2010

Hi Everyone!

It’s been awhile since my last update but I’ve been super busy! I spent all last week in the studio with LA Dubb; we worked on some new tracks, recorded and had a great time. Then we flew to Miami for a few business meetings and made some great connections. I’m so excited! Also, while we were in Miami I got news from Caesar Augustus, my director for the video “Everybody Knows” featuring Papoose and TF Mafia, has been completed.  So stay tuned for the premiere! I had so much fun on the set working with the guys and my stylist and playing around with my hair and makeup.

And finally, I’m hosting a contest on my Facebook fanpage: http://www.facebook.com/PopStarKarinaBradley#!/KarinaBradleyMusic?ref=ts.

I want to get more people involved in my music, art and passion. So, my camp and I have decided to giveaway an exciting gift that I enjoy, think iPod but better!! This gift goes to the friend/fan that suggests my page successfully to their friends. Whoever suggests the most friends and increases my number of fans wins!

So come on everyone, let’s get excited about my music and spread the love to more people!

Again, I love you all, thank you for the warm wishes and support!

Xoxo
